Just a quick note to let you all know that I probably won’t be updating this until after Christmas break, so around January 7-8… sometime around then.
I have a presentation and 5 exams this week, and then I will finally be on vacation the 22nd. I’ll be in Rouen the 24, 25, and 26th – back to Strasbourg for a day – and then I’m going to England so spend some time with a friend who is studying in Strasbourg also. All I know is that we are going to the pub and she has a very pretty dog, woohooo!
Merry Christmas to everyone – I wish I could be home to celebrate with you.

I’m sorry that I haven’t updated recently – I’ve been having some issues with my computer and therefore I tried not to spend much time on it during the past couple weeks. I actually had to end up restoring my computer to its factory condition last night, so I lost everything that I had saved or added to my computer since I bought it this summer. Thankfully I have an iPod with lots of space, so I saved all my important stuff to it. I’m just hoping and praying that this has solved the problem, because if not I probably have a bad hard drive… which is something that I really don’t want to have to deal with in France! Well, we shall see.
I had my first exam on Monday – it was technically not the final exam, but if I did decently on it I will not have to take the 4 hour final exam (on a Saturday). So, I’m really hoping that that will be the case. I have a lot of studying to do next week, and then I will have 6 exams within two days - the 20th and 21st. Then I will relax a bit! Other than being a little stressed and worried about exams, life is pretty good. During my Christmas break, I will go to Rouen for Christmas celebrations, and then I think I will go to England to visit with Hollie and her family.
Last night I made Christmas cookies with some people from church - sort of like a home group. We made some breidele (Alsatian Christmas cookies), Russian tea cakes, some cookies that were from a recipe of the great-grandmother of the life group leader, and some that were sort of like macaroons. It was a really fun evening – I really enjoyed making cookies and speaking franglais with everyone in the group.
I have been to the famous Christmas markets a couple of times now – they are really cool, and I think the city of Strasbourg’s decorations are really the best part. There are chandeliers down one street near the Cathedral, and lights everywhere. It just puts you in a happy, Christmasy sort of mood. It’s true that there are a lot of tourists, and the city gets pretty crowded – but it’s still fun.
Well, I ought to end this – I need to go searching for a train ticket and some groceries.
Thanks to my family who sent me some wonderful American junk food
